Does anyone know of a car (or other vehicle) that uses and "Inline" coolant thermostat?
Something that does not fit into the engine block, but instead mounts inline with the hoses.
The water jacket blanking plate on my R175 does not have the room to machine a port and flange connection for a conventional automotive thermostat/housing.
My other option would be to use a solenoid valve connected to a temperature switch/sensor.

The International SV engines have a block that bolts to the manifold that the thermostat goes in. The water neck goes on top of that. With a hose mount thermostat, you'll need to circulate warm water to it so it knows when to open. I do have some extra blocks and water necks around if you're interested.

I was able to find this inline stat housing complete with a 190f thermostat on Amazon.
It's for a Land Rover TD5.
I ordered one to try it out.

Are you off grid? Does it charge batteries?
I'm sure you described your "Roid" system somewhere before but I can't recall.
I am always interested in such systems with high hours.

Hi Veggie, Yes to both of the above and CHP while charging batteries too. The Roid began it's productive life powering the construction of our off-grid home in 2007. Then it was backup for a 1065 AH bank of FLA batteries until about 2018 when we upgraded to LiFePo batteries. I did a bit of experimenting with alternative fuels and replaced a lot of parts. Since the new batteries the generator is needed a lot less and I'm running red diesel so it's a lot more reliable. She now starts on the first compression stroke every time. The bottom end is unchanged except for the bronze timing gear and an offset bolt.
