Guys,
Here are some videos of my gen in its final form---enjoy!!

WOW ;D ;D
Cool, all you need now is a yellow box to put over it, and it'll look just like a real one!

Here are a couple of others:

This one you might want some Dramamine as there's alot of movement: :-\

I almost did the mag wheels but couldn't justify the cost---they may come later!!

I can't believe someone would take a beautiful Listeroid and cheese it up like that! ;D
Very nice job!
What are you driving under the ST generator?
This is starter.
Alternator and water pump are visible at front end.
Cheers, Wizard
A work of art, Tommy.
Best Wishes,

Tommy,
That's a beauty!
I can appreciate the hours of design work and fabrication that went into your unit.
Nice job.
Veggie
I agree -- *very* nice job! I have to ask though: What's the squeaking noise?
Hello Tommy,
Wow, You put lots of hard work and time into your genset. Nice Job!!
The only thing now is some fine tuning and minor modifications as with most projects.
The squeaking noise is the serpentine belt slipping.
From what I can see in the video when it is paused is there is not enough wrap around the gen-head pulley with the belt.
Henry
I think it may actually be slipping on the engine's flywheel as there are no serpentine belt grooves cut into it.
Thanks for the compliments! I've had fun designing and building it.
Tommy
Tommy:
its so nice to see you get some use out of that big engine, looks as though you have done a very good job
with it.
nicely done!

I think it needs to be self-propelled. Lots of room underneath for a couple of motors to power the wheels. Hang a garden tractor seat (with cup holder) over the trailer tongue and steer via the traction motors. You're 90% there!
Quinn
WOW!!! :D Fantastic job. You should see my mess.

Another impressive project like the R2800...of course less expensive ....What Next? ::) ::)
Actually, I did consider for a short time of rigging a sort of electric go-kart with a trailer hitch that would pull the gen along...
I figured though there was no way a 8-10 hp electric motor could pull a one-ton generator up my driveway, at least in my lifetime!! Maybe the R2800 could lend a hand---I could have a hybrid synergy drive---Al Gore and the climate changers would be proud of me! :)
I think a 25/2 powered BOAT might be a good next project...I think it'd be a riot to go glug-glug-glugging around beautiful Smith Mountain Lake huffing black smoke as I went merrily along...all the while hoping the engine doesn't chuck a piece of flywheel through the bottom of the boat! :o
Reminds me of this guy:

you'll be one up with a twin though! ;)
Squeak heard in the video is most likely off the 12v alternator belt as the start battery recharges heavily for the first few seconds after start. As there is no load connected to the set it is very unlikely off the main head drive belt. Nice fabrication work tlfrantz!
Tim
The squeak is off the main drive belt; I ran it without the charging alternator and it still squeaked. Also, I had a 5kw load hooked to it; that was the hair-dryer looking thing on the ground next to the gen.
