Title: Newbie question- Lister SR2 needs an alternator
Post by: Brad on May 25, 2011, 08:38:07 AM
CORRECTION-
SR2 (not LS2)
I have a 1971 Lister SR2 with a 6.5kW in-line generator.  I am exploring how best to replace the generator with an alternator and looking for advice on where to start. I've seen belt-driven set-ups.  Are there any in-line set-ups?  The Lister is deep inside Canada and hard to get to so I need as much of a bolt-on setup as possible.  Any guidance or opinions would be appreciated.

I answered my own question-

Contact Gary at http://diesel-electric.us/

Has bolt-on solutions and is very helpful.

I run a ST5 on a belt drive at 1400 rpm, but you could easily run a ST5 or ST7.5 on direct drive @1800 . I think  Georgia Generator has single bearing flexplate units that will bolt up to make a more compact package.
