I just noticed that Central Maine Diesel appears to be selling Listeroids again. They have what appears to be a fairly well designed "veggie oil" conversion and are selling generator packages for that use. Last I heard, they got slapped down by the EPA. Did they come up with a way around the regs? That would be great news if they did! Anyone have any info?

I don't think Veg oil has ever been an EPA "approved" fuel source, so I don't see how that would get them around the regs. About the only way I could see that happening was if they could prove they were pre-ban engines?
When I called them last spring, I was told they were not going to pursue the sales of listeroids any longer and were sold out of engines.
???

Well I'll be hanged, my experiance with them last spring was the same as Ron's "NO! and dont ask no more!" Guess they were tired of answering the phone? Not sure how veggie gets them around anything but whatever, hope they succeed.
Almost $4400 + for a package deal without cooling tank, guard, isolation mounts, or shipping... I wish them well.
I think the info is just old stuff from their website. I'm pretty sure they just sell some parts now.
I think it's current. The ad states:
"Yes - Send the 2011 Vegetable Oil Lister Type Generator Buyer's Guide"
I filled in the info so we will see what they send me.
Bob
Must be current , the metadata gives the page as being update today.
Ron
They are assembling engines in the USA. I am 95% sure of this but cannot explain why right now. Whether they are doing it legally or not I do not know...
ssssSHHHHHHHHH ;)
I called them today and no dice, they don't have any engines in stock
and don't really want to handle them at this point.

That's exactly the opposite of what they told me.
I talked to Dan Reed. We talked about parts he had in stock and wanted to
know if he ha d a Crank Case etc, none to be had. I would love nothing more
than to have him send me a 6/1 new in the crate ;D
I have called there twice and Dan has been out. The web page was updated to include that info so one would assume,,,
I send the form for info.
No sign of anything after couple weeks?

Not saying you will never get a response. But. It seems that is the way it goes, no response.
If you want something from CMD you should call on the phone that is my experience.

Dittos, my experiance with them also.
Sorry guys, but all that I got from the phone call to CMD was the very polite but distinct impression that they didn't want to be bothered. Especially about a listeroid, so please don't bother to call again. ???
Maybe they were put off by my (hillbilly sounding) Southern accent, I don't know, but I could understand it if they were, it's pretty bad. :D ;D :D
Ron
I placed an order two days ago for a few sets of bearings, rod bushings and a spare piston. No problems placing the order. I forgot to ask about whole engines.
Glad to see they are not discriminatory in their treatment of callers Ron, LOL. Unless, maybe I have a 'billy accent too ???
Dan isnt too bad to talk to, the rest of them can take a flying ,,, uh,, rest of my opinion is reserved.
To get treated like a customer A person realy needs to ask for Dan in my experiance. its kinda like the word Lister makes the rest of them mad.
If you want an 8/1 Kit Engine, one that's been assembled and then
taken apart, Diesel-Electric in Kansas might have a couple left.
I bought the last 2 6/1 'kits' he had last week. These are going to
be stripped and rebuilt. The crates were marked M.K. Engineering.
Overall quality is good but not as nice as Powerlines stuff from Dan.
I bought an assembled 8/1 from Gary that hadn't been gone through. It had some problems, but Gary was exemplary about taking care of everything I found. I would not hesitate to recommend DES!

Technically, you bought one and I bought the other one. I checked out the piston and bore, which has convinced me to tear the whole thing down before trying to run it.
And thanks for letting me know about the deal!
Gary still has plenty of 8/1's for sale just FYI. Mike DD
