An example on how we manage to controle the fluctuating energy from windturbines.
They are very proud of their wind solutions, but at the same time most other alternatives are practically forbidden, or at least heavilly taxed.

same here
Runs fine for me but takes about 10 secs to start ???.
Potter,
I am using firefox and it doesn't work what browser are you using?
windows xp
it's only work through internet explorer ;D
it works fine for me with IE
for those that can't get it to work
the video basically shows how denmark with its some 5500windgenerators
manage the power generated and integrate it into their national grid.
at the home office, they basically have a huge screen that monitors windconditions at
each of the turbines, so that they can extract maximum power from them as storms
and higher winds start to make it into their country and their turbines
they monitor and extract up to the max output and then shutdown the turbines so that
they are not damaged, and then as the windspeed drops back below the max speed
the bring them back online again and milk out the max power as the storms subside.
there is more but that is the jist of it.
actually a good case is made for automation, when you consider the power from a mill
follows a cube law, for when you double windspeed you get 8times the power, so
there is much to be gained by taking active control of the windgenerators during the runup
and rundown of windspeeds leading in and out of a storm,, apparently they get some
stormy weather with enough frequency to make this type of system really pay off.
they are getting approx 20% of their electrical power from wind, and want to get up to 50% by
2020 or 2025 iirc.
pretty cool presentation overall
