Hi Everyone, I have been reading the posted comments with interest for a long time.

I have little to add to the topics. But I have a question:

What can be done, practically,  to increase the efficiency of the common automobile alternator
to at least 80 percent?

Thanks for your thoughts in advance, Larry

Increase it to 24 or 48 volts. 12 volts? Not gonna happen.

Mobile Bob posted an article in the White Papers section on alternator efficiency.

Hi Everyone,
I reread with interest Mobile Bob's white paper on claw pole alternators. A great increase in performance by derating the chrrent and doubling the voltage.

Can similar results be obtained with his test alternator by reducing the output current to 50 amps at 14.4 volts?
