General Discussion / NEW MEMBERS IDEAS
February 13, 2011, 01:03:52 PM
I recieved a PM from LLF saying he had deleated his post over the LOVSON compressors.

I did not ask him if I could post this so I hope it is alright with him. He is new to the forum and was excited about belonging. His goal is to be self sufficent if need be. He also wanted to bring something to this forum in the way of information.

He had some ideas that he put a lot of thought and research into. He was made to feel that everything he had to share was pretty much in vain. How many of us have rersearched something new and felt it was a good idea just to have people dischourage us? I think we should encourage people to follow there dream and offer support and guidence.

I wanted to go back and read the post from other people again beside him to see if I could point out what remarks might have been negative. I see it is all gone.

I know I have had ideas that may have not followed the norm. It is people with new ideas that create advancement in this world. Getting engines into the US in form of aircompressors is not new but it is also not discussed much. I think anyway of getting something into the country even if it goes against the grain of the govt is great.

I hope LLF will continue to be part of the forum. Even the newest members have ideas that might be of some interest to others. Mike DrDeath

General Discussion / GMC truck
August 07, 2010, 07:38:23 AM
This is kind of off the wall but I thought I would post here for guidence. I have a 1999 GMC 4 x 4 1 ton truck. Other than the paint it is in great shape. It has a 454 in it and I would like to change it for either a GMC diesel or a Dodge Cummins diesel. Who out there has any knowledge about this? Also is there any problems with Big Brother ( government ) in doing something like this. The reason for this is I have an unlimited supply of UMO to burn. Thanks, DD

General Discussion / Real Lister engines
July 17, 2010, 12:33:54 PM
I am with a group of 5 people importing engines from the UK. There were 6 of us to begin with which made the shipping charge a little less than 1000 dollars each. If someone would be intrested in joining the group please email me. The container is 20 feet and has enough for everyone to have 3 or 4 engines. The shipping charge will be divided equally among everyone no matter how many engines you get. It is still a inexpensive way to get to own a piece of working hx. Mike

General Discussion / air conditioner start up
July 11, 2010, 08:25:00 AM
I am not sure where to put this so someone guide me. I need to know if there is someway or something that can be added to an aircondtioner unit that will help boost it if someone was wanting to switch it over to generator power. I am buying a VA from the UK. I believe it has a 3.5 or 3.7 KW alternator on it. I plan to run it on UMO. I am going to use it for my 220 volt items. I am a little concerned that it might need a little boost to start the AC especially if the dryer might be running. There surly has to be something out there to help the initial start easier. Looking for any advice. I can continue to pay electric company for getting raped in the summer. Mike
