I to am the owner of a lister VA--I think?
Some of us on this forum are buying old listers in the UK and filling a 40foot box and then shipping the LOAD to the US
one of the engines I found is a Va, that is in a 200 year old out house
The VA has been paid for and I am woking with a UK forum member to get it moved out of its resting place
The story of the VAs thet you have told is GREAT
Would like more info and photos
Thanks Jeff

Slowspeed,

Take your time. spray down everthing with a good penitration oil every day for at least a week and then start to clean it up.

Check the posts here. There are quite a few about the VA. Upper parts, head, cylinder, copper shims/gasets are unique to the VA. Most other 8/1 parts will work. The crank is a sleave type bearing and NOT taper Roller like most Indian versons.

Good luck. Very good engine, tends to run on the cool side.
