Those of you in the know may laugh as you read this but I dont know how to explain the problem.
My engine has a vibration that is cyclitic, that is it goes up and down. Its not ignition related, more of a rotation issue.
What happens is the engine will vibrate from nothing to severe and back again, following the same axis as the engine ie from cyclinder head to starter motor. no vibes from side to side
think of some one turning the volume up and down over and over again, the volume =vibration
No matter what the revs are fast or slow it is present right through the range, revs fast= vibs fast ect
What I have tried.
All bolts tight and bed secure and square.
running engine alone with genny belts off.
Counter weight timing gear, one tooth advance/ one tooth retard/ and correct setting.
From what I can see of the c/w bearings, they look and rotate without a gritty feel to them.
Question is: where do I look next?

I happen to notice spots of lub oil on the floor right under the exhaust port where it bolts to the cylinder head. Not knowing where it came from I just cleaned it up and started the engine again. then later in the day I saw it was dripping from the port itself and my wife said much smoke is coming from the muffler. I cant see it from inside the engine room. So off the engine and thought why? How? Aha maybe from a worn valve guide.. but this engine (1115) has less than 60 hrs run time.. Anyway removed the head and its dry as a bone as it should be. The valve guide has minimum play so doubt if oil is running through to make the smoke or drips. oil drain is huge so no chance of a blockage. The next thing in mind is a oil control ring but that means removal of rod and piston = down time for more time than I need right now. (Digging a deep well) Besides I do not think the rings would even be beded in yet.
Has anyone had this problem in the past... any info to the cause would be helpfull. (he says praying)...
tks Bobbie

Hi all, I wish to say sorry to all the forum members who have placed orders or enquires regarding the ballast. It turns out that out that the Firefly agent who had the units for sale has been dismissed for selling old faulty stock. Any faulty units which he should have returned to the company were held back and then he tried to re sell them to the public. With this in mind I have declind to get involved. I only found this out after I sent 30 units back direct to Firefly for exchange only tobe told they are now discontinued. It was then they gave me the whole story.
However, the GOOD news is Firefly will now sell their products  to me direct.
I will research for more info and post my finding here.
Again please accept my sincere apologies.

I run both a 195 & a 1115, as of late I have taken the 1115 out of service to carry out checks to the top end. This has left me just the trusty 195 to carry out all my supply needs. This has left me scratching my head..
My supply demands tend to be fixed daily, that is the requirements are the same. Yet after running the 195 for over a week I have noticed some startling differences between the two engines.
read on and give me your input on my quandary..

195..
Fuel. 50% wmo-25% diesel-25% kerosene.
Engine speed 1800rpm average
ST Head 7.50Kw
Temp- very damn hot (to ensure complete fuel gets burnt) and no smoke
Consumption over a three hour period (Loaded) 4litres

Whereas.

1115.
Fuel. WVO. 75%- Diesel. 25%
Engine speed 1200rpm average
ST Head.15kw
Temp-Hot, but a lot less than above 195.
Consumption over a three hour period (loaded) 3litres
Keep in mind that the running times and loads are the same.
Both these engine will burn what ever I put in the tanks. A few days ago I forgot to include the kerosene and she (195) still ran on the thick oil. What an engine!
Any ideas?

Changfa/Redstone/Chinese diesels / S1115D on WVO
February 12, 2012, 01:10:17 AM
Happy birthday to my 1115, she has now reached the 500hrs mark running on WVO. Next will be to remove the head and check and clean ect. I think this will be the last time I will use veg oil as for me it is not cost effective against road diesel fuel. That may seem odd to many that do use it daily. The reasoning behind my choice is the cost of getting the wvo from the first user cafĂ©'s and the like. :( Everything here has a price scrap, waste oil included. I have no idea what it gets used for after processing, but the market is very big for any oil old or otherwise. So with the additional hidden cost of getting the WVO, transportation and cleaning, plus the cost of down time and replacing the fuel filters takes the total cost very near the cost per litre of diesel. A shame really because I loved to just sit and watch the lady rolling over making my workshop smell like a busy kitchen. Grief, I was always hungry for fried chicken and chips. Another added cost FOOD! He he he  As from next start, back to borring diesel.  :-\

Changfa/Redstone/Chinese diesels / pig pen to new shop
January 28, 2012, 07:21:09 AM
Hi folks, sorry for the silence, but I have been busy as you will see. After getting my new toy 1115 for christmas (early) I just could not bring myself to put it in the old pig pen like before. that left me absolutely no choice, as I told her in doors, we have to build a new shop for both the engines or they may be stolen....ha ha who can even lift one let alone steal it..Once my wife was on board it was none stop activity. remove pen, lay cement base, order steel for roof joist, I wont go on but let the pictures tell the story.
Uploading is slow here so I will put a few each time I am on the forum..sorry you tube upload is a no no for now.
Hope you enjoy.

This is just two stores in one street. Go into a store, tell them what your looking for (engines) and if they dont have they will ring Manila and after paying a deposit your order arrives the next day. If your looking to buy used, then its best to go direct to Manila sea dock and take your pick. Yanmar surplus from Japan at a good price. Oh lucky me!! I must inform S.W.M.B.O that we really really do need a bigger shed. ;) ;) ;D

Changfa/Redstone/Chinese diesels / Switching field supply
September 04, 2011, 06:11:56 PM
A question for you boffins. I now have two units ready to supply the house, 195 @7.5kw + 1115 @10kw. but need a kiss proof method of isolation between the heads. I will use two contactors. ie one for each head being energised by the voltage coming from the head. QUESTION! can I use the field to switch the supply to the contactor. that is open field ,no voltage to the coil. Each contactor will be linked through a NC so when head (A) is energised, the field of (B) will be open curcuit and visa versa. B in (A) will be open circuit. Does anyone see a problem that has not come to my mind. I have yet to do any wild trials so will wait untill some one shouts "NO...Dont do that because"...
I plan to photo some of the stores here so the group can see what is ready available in regards to engines. I suggest members state side get a box of tissues so you can hide the tears. EPA has no meaning here, but maybe (Every Plonker Available).
Tks in advance

As I made the base using the 12kw head as a pattern the 15-20 head does not fit, re-plan use the my spare 12kw head and maybe buy another engine for the 20kw head :-\ Like I really need the excuse.. thank god my wife is very understanding when it comes to my toys ha ha

Changfa/Redstone/Chinese diesels / china engine heaven
August 14, 2011, 06:07:49 AM
Hello to the group, after reading many of the posts I decided to take the plunge and join the group. Living in the Philippines is wonderful in regards to chinese engines. All models for sale on every street corner. Our electrical supply is an on-off-on affair so having the means to generate is the only way to get by. For us we use a chang Gong 195 and a newly aquired 1115. Both great machines with no faults from new. That is 195 is 5 yrs old and runs for about sixteen hrs a week. The 1115 is being prepared to work harder still. More to follow with photos included.
