I've seen a few discussions about electronic governors here, and then I saw this.  I want the firewood processor, as well as the VW engine.   :)

Arduino controller and RC servo for speed control.

Edit:  ... and now I find its already been posted here.  Tried to delete this post, but it will not let me.  I'll leave it here, since I don't see it in the part of the forum.

I guess I'll have to download the Arduino compiler/editor to check out his source code for the fixed RPM throttle control algorithm.  The source text format is gobbledygook in notepad.

Interesting project, and quite a piece of industrial engineering for cutting wood!  The RC servo mount looked like an early trial version complete with duct tape and zip ties.

Thanks for this, Micheal.

Best Wishes,
Bruce

That's a great example of what can be done with simple tools and available technology.  Quite inspiring, actually.

I looked a couple of wood processors at a local logging show last month. Prices new start around $40k! Around here we have massive oaks with trunks up to 4' or more in diameter. I don't think these would go through a processor to well. If you've got lots of tall straight trunked trees these could be a money maker.
