New (old) Kubota in the stable

Were you able to use just a stub shaft off of the kubota flywheel with no bearing housing for support? If you did just a stub shaft and pulley to drive the genrator head, any problems with side loading the crankshaft on the engine? Thanks.

Yes, I used a custom stub shaft bolted to the flywheel.
Thousands of Semi-Truck Auxiliary Power Units and Refers use the 2 and 3 cylinder Kubota engines.
In those cases, the generator/Refrigeration compressor is belt driven directly from a pulley on the flywheel.
No issues in my opinion.
