General Discussion / 3 phase from single phase
February 23, 2018, 11:53:55 AM
Is anybody out there converting on grid 220 volt single phase to 220 volt 3 phase? I'm needing to run a CNC 15hp 40 amps max. Not interested in building one just lookin for a good product that will give me stable 3 phase. The digital solid state ones seem to be priced up there. I also learned you need to upsize the converter about double to get good results. I have supplied a circuit with 100amps 220v to run whatever I go with. Rotary seems to be my $$$$ route. Looking for a been there done that reply that will keep me out of some of the potholes!

Witte diesel and gas engines / What was I?
November 12, 2013, 09:01:49 PM
Out and about during elk season I ran across these nice pair of flywheels:). I looked it over real quick until I spotted the issue the rod had with the crankcase and then gave up on the old gal. I looked for a ID tag and never found one. Do you guy recognize it?

I have been putting together a small generator from parts I have acquired. The engine is a Kubota EA500-N.

I built a new frame and installed a Leece Neevel to charge batteries at our off grid ranch.

I thought I had all of the bugs worked out....oil leaks...bad seals but wouldn't you know it all of my test running a getting all just right before I was going to commit it to the wilderness and I have developed what appears to be a leak in the radiator. I am not sure if it is the radiator itself or the seal where it mounts to the engine block. I took it off and it appears someone else has also from the new silicone on the radiator where it mounted to the block. No soldiering has been done on radiator. I know many guys toss the radiator. I will do the same if this one is dead. Before I do that and all of the work involved I am looking for suggestions on how to check this style radiator. The coolant appeared to be coming from the tubes but in reality it was everywhere. It is well built. Any suggestions on how to find a bad tube?

Now if it can't be fixed what is the proper way to make a plate so an external radiator can be added?

I am putting togeather a Kubota 12 hp with a 4000 watt gen head and will introduce a Leece-Neville 555 into the mix. The unit will have a small starter battery to start the Kubota. Will the Leece-Neville 555 regulate correctly with a small battery and not be a big concern?

Does anyone have a good source for a 30mm QD type bushings? I am building a new set of pulleys for my Kubota EA500NB and need to get the bushing before I can get started.........
Thanks!

Well all this talk of Chinese and Japanese medium speed diesel at a good buy close to me sent me lookin today! Rainy days will get you in trouble! I pulled the trigger on the $350.00 Kubota and got it for $300.00. I have more questions about it now that I own it. Are parts available and where? I will start my search when I am done with this post. Here it is.

If anyone can tell me more about the model my search will be easier.

The Generator head works and is 1800 rpm but the hertz on each 110v leg is different. 60 on one and 43 on the other....the volts are OK. Speculation on that issue will be welcome. I was planning on putting a larger direct drive 1800 rpm head. The label is well worn but advise to junk it won't hurt my feelings.

Now for the cheap entertainment ;D I fired it up and put a 2000ish watt load on it and let it build some heat..

I sure am glad I didn't wander to far :o

Oh $hit   serious blow by! We ran it before I bought but didn't put a big long load on it.

Anyone have any speculation......I noticed oil on the frame when I was looking it over but didn't look real serious......It is hard to tell if the compression is OK it seemed to crank easy through compression but I contributed it to the reduction in the crank handle......It does run very well ,and starts easy . There are many things I need to check over when I have time...like the oil level. I have never owned one of these type diesels so any direction would be appreciated. I should have bought the new Chafunga >:( Oh and don't tell my wife or..........!!

Has anyone out there had a hollow dipper failure out there?? I have never had any negative feedback from anyone. There are maybe 75-100 out there. If anyone has had an issue jump in and let me know.

General Discussion / Micro v pulley form data?
November 30, 2009, 07:53:06 AM
I am in the process of building a pulley that will be using a automotive type sepintine belt. Has anyone got any data on the form of the micro groove on the pulley?
Thanks

I started to add a 12 volt GM starter after the fact....It is using the same method as the Gast air motors only good old 12 volts instead of air. I modified a used starter off a GM small block. It is mounted to the resilient mount sub frame to keep the engine vibration away from the starter. As with most Listeroid projects it will be an evolution and here is its birth....I have a couple of things I would like to incorporate in the process but I will see what I end up when done....Ideally I will make it foot operated and if I can light foot pressure will activate a glow plug and when heavy foot pressure is applied it will activate the starter solenoid.....not sure where that will end up but here is the start.....

Oh...and how do you get the thumnails to post and when you click on them they enlarge?
