Henry, I am totally unable to figure the picture thing out. This thing looks like your run of the mill ST head until the the rain cover comes off. The internals are different.

Hello fellow genheads!
Well,  what else that is not degoratory do you want to be called?
Anyway I am the (proud?) owner of a Mindong single phase syncronous generator 8kw with an s1100 engine. From what I have seen so far it looks to be pretty low hours.
This thing is circa 1999 or so and it is brushless.
So... does anyone have a manual or even a link to one for this thing? I am pretty much flying blind here. The guy that I bought it from said he would "probably" find the manual and he would mail it to me, but I am not holding my breath.

ST and STC generators / Re: ST 7.5kw availability

The mini trucks come on a dedicated vehicle transport, not in containers.
My Son In Law has imported several in the last few months. My Supercharged Subaru was about 1400 bucks to get herea few weeks ago.

Don't get your hopes up for rural Tennessee. I had 28 acres of unimproved land in the middle of nowhere
Tennessee. As I am getting too old to start too many new projects, I offered it to one of the local Mennonites for $229k and he offered me $125K.
Long story short, I hired a realtor and he got $340K for land I could have bought 30 years ago for $600
an acre.
    The world has gone crazy

Well, here is what I have been up to. I finally have the woodshed/generator shed up and sort of running. The Tarm is making heat and the 500 gallon propane tank is playing like a "heat battery" like it's supposed to do. I have had great success in heating the house , garage, and hot water with this thing. I do however, have another 3 inches or so of insulation to install on the tank, and I expect great gains in efficiency when that comes to fruition.
The next phase is to get the Changafa genset running in "cogen" fashion. If the power goes out here, I want heat and power from the genset instead of just burning fuel for power
and wasting the heat from the exhaust and cooling system.
The next thing on the agenda after that is to build some sort of efficient waste oil water heater to get rid of the 350-400 gallons of waste oil that I have accumulated over the years, plus oil changes for the various vehicles in the stable. I am still looking for ideas on a water heating oil burner that is some kind of "cleanish" burning, without too much of a hit on ease of use. No Babingtons, or compressed air burners will fit my bill. Oh well I may be delusional, but I'm still looking for "naturally aspirated' burners in the order of 50-70,000 btu an hour. That is .of course ,is in heated water. And it must be adjustable. Not too much to ask for?!
I do have an Army surplus multifuel tent heater that is simply awesome! That thing will heat an unsulated pole barn that you can see through the cracks to the outside, to a comfortable level without too much trouble. It's probably on the order of several million BTU's an hour.  But it does use a LOT of fuel. Waste motor oil burns pretty clean, but it is too thick to pass through the " carburetor", so a manual control valve must be used with it  and it has to be babysat constantly, and has no water heating provision.
I do have pictures, but being Computer Challenged and admittedly lazy, I will attempt to post a few if anyone wants me to.

I will tell you exactly what "our" government will do, posturing, threats, increased legislation that will accomplish nothing that is was intended to.
In other words, not an effing thing.

Yeah well that's pretty much how my s1100 sounds too.

It woild have never crossed my mind that motor oil would have a shelf life!
Think that is what I am seeing in the bottom of jugs of Rotella that I have had for a while?
Makes me wonder.

Thanks Bob! I seem to be facing some of the same issues that you are. My Wife and I had COVID back in August, and things have not taken a turn for the better after.
It just gets harder to get anything done.
  Anyway thanks for the input!

I thought that starter repair was the Pakistani truck YouTube channel. If you haven't checked it out, it is a great way to lose a day. Or more.
Talking about making something from nothing, those guys have it down pat.

No Tom, sadly it was pure "ol laziness. I had propane backup heat and kerosene lamps, it was late and we gave it up and went to bed. :D
One has to babyset the Mighty Walla Walla Zing Dong to keep the cooling hopper topped up every few hours.
The power came back on the next day around 11am so I fired up the CPAP machine (Iron Lung) and slept some more.
Funny thing is I used to hate that machine! I cussed, fussed and railed against it, now I really can't sleep without it.

Casey I'll give you $200 bucks for it if you will deliver to TN! ;D

Hello Mike!  DEF is an acronym for Diesel Exhaust Fluid, that is the crap that smells like  pee, and it is metered in  to reduce the levels of NOx.
There is an SCR  (selective catalytic reduction) in there that is sort of a Catalyst that uses DEF for something that I simply do not understand, perhaps one of the more learned members could chime in and correct my assumptions.

The DPF is an acronym for Diesel Particulate Filter, that is supposed to trap soot and at a certain point, extra fuel is injected to burn the soot off and clean the filter.

All in all, the whole thing sounds pretty Mickey Mouse to me but I am admittedly not the sharpest tool in the shed.

Here is what I don't get - How do you burn more fuel to produce less emissions?

Also does the catalyst get hot enough to reduce the soot levels? Some, none, maybe a little bit?

I found this on Google. (Is this plagiarism? ???)

-----The diesel oxidizing catalyst (DOC), similar to a catalytic converter in gasoline engines, requires at least 662 °F to function. An exhaust cooler reduces the temperature of the exhaust gas before it exits the tailpipe

I'm just not sure that a naturally aspirated diesel will get hot enough to light the thing!  Although I have never had an exhaust temperature gauge on my changfoid I do have 'em on the shelf ready to go when everything is ready.

Ok Google again on automotive catalysts
------Exhaust catalysts usually operate in the temperature range 150–600 °C,(300 to 1100 °F) but they can experience temperatures of up to 1000 °C (a little over 1800°F). The conditions that can produce such high temperatures include repeated misfire (resulting in the oxidation of large amounts of unburned fuel over the catalyst) and high driving speeds.

I guess I am comparing apples to oranges, Google (crap google is EVERYWHERE!) says there are supposedly little or none of the precious metals platinum, palladium, and rhodium in a diesel cat?
   Help!
Ron.
