over the next few weeks the membership should notice some changes to our forum

the format will remain much the same as it is now,  however it will be broken into 3 separate sections

one section will pertain to boards relating to cogeneration, boards like heat exchangers, thermal strorage, controls, pumps
etc.

the last section will house the SOMRAD group, along with board relating to testing, procedure, white papers and other more technical
board

nestled between these two sections will be the prime mover group of boards, lister/petter, listeroid/petteroid, changfa/redstone, gas engines,
steam/sterling and other engines, this section will also be making room for an influx of information from another source, the details of which will be announced soon.

we expect an influx of new members after the transition is made, so...   (now the details)

i would ask our membership to be as welcoming to these new members as is possible, to extend a welcome and work to help them feel at home.

invariably every time there is change, there are folks that get upset, so we need to do what we can to help those that might be so disposed
work through the change as comfortably as possible.

with this change we will also be welcoming another administrator to help with the influx of new folks and the information that will become part of this forum.  he has many years experience and i look forward to having him aboard.

there will be more details to come, we are in the process of compiling info, member lists, and doing some upgrades in the background, so
it will take perhaps a couple weeks to get this all done.

also i want everyone to bear in mind that any change of this type likely will not happen perfectly, there will probably be some technical issues to work through, some members might get lost and have to reapply however,, we don't want anyone upset about losing their post counts we can fix that later after you reapply for membership.

lets all work together to get through this next growth phase and make this place even better.

thanks

well the first shifting of the forum is taking place this morning jan 30th, i will be working on combining some of the redundant boards
and then eliminating those that are unneeded after the info in those boards have been moved to a more appropriate board.

bear with me fella's we are getting there...

baby steps, baby steps...

thanks

I'm hoping that this doesn't eliminate the LEF forum and listerengine.com address, as it's my opinion that it attracts a different crowd than the microcogen crowd. It's been out there long time, as evidenced by the number of members, that it would be too bad if it went away.  While there is overlap, there is also something to be said for keeping separation.

Also, due to the length of time it's been available, it's widely linked all over the place and it would be a bummer to break those links.

It was my hope that it would continue as a standalone resource only under better ownership and management.  I offered to help with the purchase to ensure that it remained available to as many users as possible and part of that is by it not being buried.

What I did not want to see happen was for it be absorbed and buried in a different a forum as I feel it would be detrimental in the long run.  I feel this way even if it was the merged with the microcogen forum as I feel they have different focuses.

Again, while there is overlap, not everyone who plays with Listers is interested in cogen or burning alternative fuels, just as not everyone who is interested in cogen is interested in running a Lister.

Food for thought...

whatever changes that are in store will take in too account these and many other concerns

we will work with them and do whatever is needed, to protect and promote everything that is of interest
to the broadest percentage of the membership that is possible.

I think we can provide a larger readership, and with the tools in the newer software, we can let those that want to talk engines, or WMO can do so... The old LEF name will still point people to the new site so the links and such will continue to work.  We have no plans on letting that name disappear or end up pointing to a Viagra site.

Did someone mention VIAGRA. It's a stand a long drug. LOL
As long as Breast Cancer Kills, I will support the battle. Please help support your local chapters.

I say Bravo! Merging and thereby strengthening the two forums makes perfect sense to me. This is a far better option than just allowing the LEF to disappear. Since we use this place for education, I say more is better. I will contine to steer my contacts this way for all related research and study.
