I am trying to source automatic tensioners for flat-belt generator drives. Anyone know of a good source for something generic?

Mitsubishi 3.0 liter  fan belt tensioners are simple cheap and have a single bolt mount, and should be easy to fab a mount for.   They are made for a 6rib belt but are wide enough for an 8 rib . Try serpentine belt, 92 caravan in Napa, should be less than 50 dollars.

your local auto parts store should be able to hook you up with an off the shelf tensioner
Gates among other offer several options, as does goodyear and others

napa has em, along with autozone, carquest and other independents

just pick on that fits something very popular to get the best price.
