Hi, hope everyone is doing well.. I am looking for SAE #5 housing and 6.5 drive for a kubota D722.. Having a hard time finding one new or used. Especially without a part#. Or knowing what machines or generators used this setup an a D722.. Not interested in anything produced or sold by hayes manufacturing. Thanks in advance if you know a reasonable priced source. Thanks.

Have seen these delco type pma alternators for a while on ebay. Looks like it might be based on a 12si style alternator.. The company has been around for a while..

They are claiming up to 75-80 amps output at 48 volts. I think it may do 80 amps max for a short amount of time, but 50 amps continuous might be more realistic?

There is a video at the bottom of the add that was made by a customer of their's.
It shows a 24 volt alternator at 2340 watts at 27.9 volts. So about 83 amps. That alternator is rated 2800 watts max. But the guy did not max it out for the video. He was using a small 6.5 hp gas engine and the engine seemed to pull it pretty easily at probably 3000 rpm.

They are a little ricey, but I think price can be negotiated..  What do you guy's think of these.. Got to be better than a china special that claims 6000 watts in a smaller footprint..

If you watch the video skip ahead 8-10 minutes if you want. He talks alot in the beggining..

Hi all, has anyone built a working exhaust heat exchanger for a diesel engine yet? Have seen lots of threads on the subject but no working examples really.
If anyone does have one going, could you list some of the parts you used, what style did you build. Was it succesful and are you still using it?

This forum needs a horse kick in the ass to wake up and get motivated on them projects again..

Thanks, Keith71

Pretty neat anyway.. They get into the engine part at about the 6 minute mark.

General Discussion / Diesel prices ?
May 13, 2022, 03:10:52 PM
What is the cost of Diesel where you live? $6.57 gallon for diesel fuel here in Connecticut on 5/13/22.  Over $3200 to fill our 500 gallon tank for our trucks.
Is anyone near $7.00 yet?...

Have a D722 from a onan 7500 watt generator. The flywheel on this engine has no way to incorporate a stub shaft. As the generator rotor is casted as one piece with the flyheel. The part numbers I have are for the Z482 engine. Hopefully they should be the same for the D722.                                                                                        Part numbers I am looking for are-  Thanks to Henry for posting the z482 parts book..

From the June 2006 parts book  Z482-E2B-DGDE-4

Flywheel 16851-2501-5
starter housing plate 15847-0461-2
      OR

From the 1994 parts book  Z482-BBs engine

Flywheel 16851-2501-0
starter pate housing 19666-0462-0

Thanks, Keith.

General Discussion / Carolina's Ice
January 21, 2022, 04:40:39 PM
Hope everybody who lives in the Carolina's are doing okay. And have their generators ready. That storm that is hitting you now was supposed to come to the northeast but looks like it is going out to sea before then. Stay safe and warm.

Automotive alternators / 110-555 or this ...
December 29, 2021, 12:44:20 PM
https://www.ebay.com/itm/303581902251

how would this compare to a Leece 110-555 ? Better or worse? 1075 rpm for 26 volts. 1800 rpm for 51 volts. 2600 rpm for 100 volts. Says about 54 amps. But does not say where the 54 amps are in the range. Would it put out 54 amps at 1800 rpm? They say more efficient because of no brushes. What do you experts say. I already have a 110-555 140 amp alternator.   if I run it at 24 volts with either a sterling regulator or a factory leece 24 volt regulator would that be a better setup than this pma? Thanks.

Changfa/Redstone/Chinese diesels / Changfa stub shaft
December 17, 2021, 12:42:19 PM
Hi, any of you guys seen stub shafts for these types of engines? I have searched and found really nothing. I may have to have one made. I have a little R170 engine. I noticed a member veggie here has one for sale for a 190 I believe, but the bolt pattern is bigger than mine. Do any of you guys make them by any chance. The 3 inch pulley shaft on mine is not good for what I need to do.  I wish they would start building these with a bolt on stub shaft instead of a bolt on pulley. Thanks for your time, Keith.

Changfa/Redstone/Chinese diesels / Changa clone?? on ebay
December 11, 2021, 01:24:03 PM
Except for being air cooled insread of a changfa hopper cooled engine. Does not look like much difference. Again zero emissions. Sure is strange on what can enter this country and what cannot. Also comes with the same useless pulley instead of a stub shaft.

Hi, any of you guys here know what a bare crankcase roughly weighs? As in no crankshaft, flywheels, Bearings etc. Just a empty crankcase. Can be from an original Lister or the India listeroid. Thanks for your time and any help you can offer.

I know this is a changfa type section. But this has had me wondering for a while.  The last 6-12 months these engines have over run ebay. If you do a search of smaller type diesel engines.  They are the air cooled 186 f Chinese clone of the Yanmar L100. They were sold in the U.S on generator setups under various name's until about 2011-2012 I think.      Then they were supposedly banned due to the EPA ::).

Today these same engines can be purchased on Ebay from many different sellers in a few different states. Mainly they ship from California of all places ???  (Tree hugger capital of the world among various other lunatics). These engines have zero emission controls not even tier -1.5 :o ;D... Obviously they are coming by the container load. Can one of you guys help me understand how these supposed EPA illegal engines are getting into this country from china? But the Listeroid and some others are a big no-no. Thanks. Here are a few links..

Hi, I have a leece 110-555 alternator 12 volt 140 amp. Unfortunately it needs a front bearing. I cannot see what size the bearing is as I do not have it completly apart. I read the rear bearing is a 6205 series. I suspect when I get it apart I will still not be a ble to read a number off of it. I do know that the o.d on the front bearing is 62mm. But cannot measure i.d yet. I have looked and have not found bearing specs for the front bearing on this alternator. Thanks for any info you can provide. Keith
